The
Japanese plug/outlet system is described in JIS C8308, 8358 and is
exclusively used in Japan. The Japanese plug, two poles + earth, has
two flat, nickel-plated solid brass pins with an earthing clip arranged
at the side to be connected to earth.
Another variant described in the Japanese standard is a NEMA configuration 5 -15P plug. This plug is provided with two flat pins and a round pin, which is made of nickel-plated solid brass.
The connecting lead has to comply with the special JIS regulations and has to be marked with an approval number.
The current/voltage indicated on the plug depends on the cross-section of the connecting lead:
3 x 0,75 mm² = 7 A / 125 V
3 x 1,25 mm² = 12 A / 125 V
3 x 2,0 mm² = 15 A/ 125 V
2 x 2,0 mm² + Earth 1,25 mm²
2 x 2,75 mm2 + Earth 1,25 mm²
