The
two-pole Italian plugs are available in two versions, for 10 A and for
16 A. The difference between them is the diameter of the contacts and
the distance between contacts. The plugs can be inserted in any
direction and are thus not polarized. The Italian plug system is
standard in Libya, Ethiopia and Chile. Sometimes one can see the system
also in North Africa. These plugs are to be used for Class II apparatus
with 2.5 A up to 10 A or 16 A respectively.
The two contact pins are partly insulated and arranged parallel to each other.
The plug for 10 A/250 V has 4 mm pins and the contact pins have a center-to-center distance of 19 mm between each other.
The plug for 16 A/250 V has 5 mm pins and the contact pins have a center-to-center distance of 26 mm between each other.
